NFL fans who were riding with Chicago received some terrible news earlier in the week as quarterback Jay Cutler was lost, possibly for the season, with a thumb injury, and now the Bears will head to Oakland to try and keep their season on track.

Bears Raiders Odds – Sunday, 4:05 PM ET

The Bears (7-3) are still in the hunt when it comes to per head odds, and word is, Chicago is angling to bring Kyle Orton back. But Caleb Hanie has a little experience and did pretty well, considering the circumstances, when he replaced an injured Cutler in last year’s NFC title game against Green Bay. Hanie has Matt Forte, a decent group of receivers, an excellent defense and arguably the best special teams in the league.

The Raiders (6-4) have won two in a row and can take control of the AFC West, and Carson Palmer is getting more comfortable under center for Oakland, but the story comes in the backfield as Darren McFadden probably won’t play and Michael Bush should get the next start. The Bears are tough to run on, so it’ll be interesting to see if Bush can be successful against Chicago.

Oakland is a 4.5-point favorite at home, but the Bears won 17-6 in their last trip to Oakland and they’ll be in good shape with Hanie as the quarterback this weekend. He has enough support around him that as long as he doesn’t turn the ball over, Hanie will be fine and the Bears will do enough, at least, to cover the NFL betting lines.
