In just under three weeks, NFL betting online enthusiasts will be glued to their televisions, as the league conducts its first year player draft. Although the NFL and the NFLPA are currently negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement, most sports betting online handicappers feel the draft could signal the end of the lockout. Here is a look at some of the stars of the draft and where they may fall.
Blaine Gabbert QB Carolina Panther First Overall Pick – Blaine Gabbert is a heck of a quarterback, but is he as good as Andrew Luck from Stanford could have been in this position? Essentially, Gabbert has all of the tools to be a franchise quarterback for a team in desperate need for a starting pivot. Last year the Panthers thought they had their man in Jimmy Clausen out of Notre Dame, however due to incompetence by the former coaching regime and a loss of confidence, Carolina finds itself in need of a new franchise pivot.
Cam Newton QB Cincinnati Bengals Fourth Overall Pick – Despite beliefs to the contrary both from Cincinnati and the experts, we believe that Cam Newton will be a Bengal with the fourth overall pick as opposed to being taken first. The Bengals are currently in a heated feud with long time quarterback Carson Palmer about Palmer wanting to be traded. Although Bengals claim they are ready to move forward without Palmer, nobody will believe them until they draft Newton with the fourth overall pick. Newton has franchise player potential, and given the Bengals supposed new approach to offense under Jay Gruden, drafting Newton could finally give Bengals fans something to cheer about.
AJ Green WR Will Play For San Francisco – AJ Green is projected by many to be a top three pick in this year’s NFL draft. However, considering so many lottery teams need defense and a quarterback, Green and his dynamic talents, may drop all the way to seventh. If he does, look for first year Head Coach Jim Harbaugh to swoop in and draft Green, as the 49ers offense gets an upgrade creatively speaking.
