NFL sports betting enthusiasts have recently turned their attention to March Madness after watching their favorite college stars complete the combine a few weeks ago. March Madness betting is a great way for bettors to take a break from all the NFL talk, as the tournament runs from the middle of March to the beginning of April. By the time the tournament is over, you will have decided which players you believe will be drafted in the first three positions, as the NFL draft is later in April. Here are two players that had great combines and will be high draft picks.

  • Cam Newton Auburn QB – Love him or hate him, Cam Newton has as much swagger entering the April draft as former Virginia Tech first round bust JaMarcus Russell back in 2007. While Newton shot up on everyone’s radar last season thanks to winning the Heisman and BCS National Title, many fans are still wary of how high he will be drafted.

In our opinion, Cam Newton will be drafted third overall by the Buffalo Bills. At six foot five inches tall 247 pounds of sheer muscle and 40 yard dash time of 4.59 Newton is a pivot the Bills have been dreaming about since Jim Kelly retired nearly 20 years ago. Although he gets compared to JaMarcus Russell, we believe Newton has a ton of upside, and could in fact be the franchise player fans in Buffalo desperately need. What’s more, Buffalo is losing money by the year thanks to a poor product on the field, with Newton that wouldn’t be an issue anymore.

  • Patrick Peterson LSU CB – Aside from Cam Newton, the most impressive player at the 2011 combine was cornerback and defensive player of the year Patrick Peterson. At six feet tall, 220 pounds and the ability to run a 40 yard dash in 4.39 seconds, Peterson has the ability to stabilize a defense for years to come. Many experts have begun to compare Peterson to Champ Bailey of the Denver Broncos. With such high praise, and amazing college credentials, we can only pray he takes his game to a whole new level in the NFL as a top three pick.
