In a matter of days the Super Bowl betting lines for the 2010-11 NFL season will come to a close as the final game of the season will be played out on Sunday February 6, 2011 at Cowboys Stadium in Texas. For Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys, 2010-11 was supposed to be the first year that fans betting on Super Bowl could watch the home team battle it out on their own turf.
Instead, fans will be seeing two of the most storied NFL franchises face each other. The Super Bowl this coming Sunday will mark a week of incredible opportunity for sports purists. For instance, this past weekend, boxing purists got to watch Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander battle it out for 140 pound supremacy. Then on Saturday February 5, MMA purists will get to watch the two best strikers in the world in Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort battle it out for the former’s middleweight crown. Sunday’s Super Bowl between Pittsburgh and Green Bay is an excellent way to cap off an incredible two weeks.
This year neither of these historically successful teams was expected to make it this far. To be honest, we truly felt that the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots would follow the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, in having consecutive years of the leagues two best regular season teams battling it out for NFL Supremacy. Instead, the Patriots couldn’t get by the Jets who eventually would lose to the Steelers, and the Packers beat the Falcons in rather convincing fashion.
Currently, the point spread opens up with the Packers as a two and a half point favorite over the higher ranked Steelers. This is no Bet Online scam, we feel sportsbooks took the Packers, because they had the tougher route to go by. However, look for the Packers to lay claim to their first Super Bowl trophy in nearly 15 years, as Aaron Rodgers makes former Packer legend Brett Favre a distant memory.
