nfl261006_4057tGoing into week 12 of the 2010 NFL betting season and fans and analysts alike can already agree on who the most overrated quarterbacks are this season. Whether it is Carson Palmer out of Cincinnati or Matt Schaub in Houston, football betting fans have become frustrated by many quarterbacks over the years that simply couldn’t get the job done. Here are three quarterbacks that come to mind.

  • Chad Pennington - This article may come across as if we are kicking a guy when he is down due to Pennington’s career ending shoulder surgery earlier this week. However, to say Pennington has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL over the last decade would be misleading at best. After flopping as the go to guy in New York for the Jets from 2000 to 2007, Pennington led the Miami Dolphins to their worst record ever in 2008. However, over his career, Pennington can be considered a decent but not spectacular quarterback. His 66 percent completion rate makes him the best in 10 years. Yet he never made it to the playoffs.
  • Trent Dilfer - The current ESPN analyst is by far the most overrated quarterback to ever play in the NFL. Winning the Super Bowl in 2002 with the Baltimore Ravens, Dilfer is seen by many as the worst starting quarterback to ever lace up the boots. His 70.2 quarterback rating and 55 percent completion rate, just go to show you that anybody can play in the NFL. After winning the 2002 Super Bowl, Dilfer was abruptly released by the Ravens, need we say more about how overrated he was?
  • Carson Palmer - As both diehard Bengals and USC fans it pains us to add Palmer to this list. However, ever since he arrived in the NFL Palmer has broken our hearts. This season alone, Palmer was supposed to become an elite quarterback as he finally had competent wide receiving options and a good ground game. However, you can only take so many interceptions at the most pivotal moments in games before wondering why the former USC star isn’t on the bench in place of brother Jordan?
