Limas Sweed, wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, injured his Achilles tendon during the last day of the Steelers’ minicamp. He was injured during a routine drill and was unable to walk off the field after the injury. Later that day he was spotted on crutches. If Sweed is out for the season his injury might not be detrimental to the Steelers 2010 offence. Sweed’s draft to the Steelers in 2008 seemed to be a major let down for the team. If Sweed’s Achilles tendon is ruptured this should not greatly affect the Steelers offence, and it should not be a detrimental factor in betting against the team.

The last two seasons Sweed caught seven passes, was put on the injured reserve list for last season for emotional reasons outside of the team. Personal problems could have put him on the list for part of last season, but a ruptured Achilles means he is out for the season.
The Steelers last season was fine with the wide receiver gone for part of the season. This year the Steelers even have a leg up. Sweed’s weak playing and “personal problems” have led the team to draft two additional wide receivers earlier in the month: Antwaan Randle El, and Arnaz Battle.
These two wide receivers will help alleviate some of the burden off of Sweed if he is able to play during the 2010 season. These two will be accompanying the Steelers primary offensive wide receivers Mike Wallace, and Hines Ward. NFL betting should not reflect negativly on the Steelers, as Sweed’s injury should not greatly impact the Steelers offensive strategy.
